A Nottinghamshire fraudster who claimed to be in a 'vegetative state' was caught walking normally on camera the day before. William Bower, 44, of Tolney Lane, Newark, has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to 13 counts of fraud at Lincoln Crown Court.
Bower was found to have defrauded 23 victims in the East Midlands, targeting elderly and vulnerable people looking for landscaping, gardening or property works. He then overcharged for unnecessary work he barely completed, reports Lincolnshire Live.
Lincolnshire Trading Standards officer, Alan Griffin, said: "When he was being interviewed under caution in September 2020, William 'Billy' Bower couldn’t even remember all of the business names he’d traded under, he had used that many.
