There will be an increased police presence on trams over the next few days as police warn of 'ongoing anti-social behaviour'. Nottinghamshire Police will increase the number of officers at tram stops and on trams in Nottingham over the next two days in order to tackle bad behaviour on trams.
On its Facebook page, Bestwood and Top Valley Police, said: "To make you aware, over the next 48hrs there will be an increased presence of police at tram stops and on the trams. This is due to ongoing anti-social behaviour on trams in and around the city #operation #asb #onthetrams"
Bulwell, Rise Park and Highbury Vale Police also posted the same message. In March, Nottingham’s tram network operator revealed it had carried out almost 900 operations to tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure customers are paying for their tickets.

At the time, NET said patrols had been increased to ensure tickets are checked and to prevent anti-social behaviour happening across the trams. In March, Trevor Stocker, head of operations at Nottingham Trams, said: “In response to a slight increase in reports of anti-social behaviour, particularly in the Clifton area, we have worked with Clifton police to tackle the problem.
There was also planned policing operation on the evening of January 17, which NET said provided further reassurance for tram users, and where two arrests were made.
