The manager of a restaurant in Radford with a food hygiene rating of 0 has said he is "very upset" and "surprised" the restaurant was given the lowest rating possible. Dosa Wala, a contemporary South Indian restaurant on Radford Road, was inspected on March 3 by the Food Standards Agency, and the findings of that inspection were published recently.
Three areas are inspected by a food safety officer. These are cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, which were both rated as 'major improvement necessary', and hygienic food handling, which was rated 'improvement necessary'.
The manager of the restaurant, who did not want to be named, said the restaurant has only been opened for a few months. He also said there were areas inspected that restaurant workers did not know would be important, and that the work requested has been carried out.
