Worried residents have spoken out as police cordoned off a busy street in the city centre. It comes as detectives were called to investigate on Lower Parliament Street, near Broad Street, where a large cordon was in place at around 9am on Saturday, March 11.
Nottinghamshire Police has been approached for more information about the incident. The footpath alongside Lower Parliament Street has been closed between its junctions with Broad Street and George Street.
Robert Graingen, a worried resident from St Ann’s, has described the scene when he first saw it this morning. The 59-year old said: “There was a police car at 6.20am, and the street was cordoned off.

“It is just very worrying. I have lived in Nottingham all my life and in the last three years it has been the worst I have ever seen.
“Crime gives Nottingham a bad name. Every time I come to the city centre there’s another police cordon.”
Lauren Wheeldon, who lives in St Ann’s, 24, added: “It is nothing surprising for Nottingham.
“Nottingham has become very rough. It is not fair for the people here to see police and cordons everywhere.
“It is not fair on the children either. They have the right to live in a safe city. All over Nottingham is just getting very rough.”
A man who works near where the cordon is currently located, said: “I came to work right after the incident happened. There were two police cars.
“It happened at around 5am - and my colleague let me know. I am not worried about it because I don’t go out looking for trouble. But it is becoming more and more common in the city centre.”
Leaton Livingston, who had recently graduated from university, 27, added: “This happens all the time in every single city you go to. I do not think it is something to worry about.”
