Nottinghamshire Live readers have expressed their disgust after a Ricky Gervais' After Life bench was destroyed by vandals in the Arboretum. The bench was one of two to be donated to the city by Netflix in January, with the other placed in Highfields Park.
They are meant for anyone who has recently lost someone or who may be struggling with their mental health. However, on Sunday, May 22, the bench appeared to have been destroyed - with planks of wood lying on top of each other.
The vandalism sparked fury amongst visitors to the Arboretum, and was met by similar levels of anger by Nottinghamshire Live readers. People described it as "mindless", "disgusting" and "disrespectful".

Neil Hood commented on Facebook: "What do people get out of this mindless vandalism?" Lawrence Winson added: "How disgusting and disrespectful - words fail me."
Liz Lovell said: "One person's act of mindless vandalism hurts hundreds of people. I'll never understand how people can be so disrespectful and hurtful. Maybe I was brought up differently."
Tracy Lawton described it as "disgusting", saying: "Really sad that something which was donated and installed here for people to enjoy/reflect, has been destroyed by mindless individuals."
Some were also confused as to why the bench had been torn down. "Why? Don't understand why anyone would do that," said Julia McCarthy.
