Nottingham Racecourse was forced to cancel races after heavy rain left the racetrack waterlogged. Heavy downpours on Sunday evening (June 18) impacted races on Monday (June 19).
James Wilcox, General Manager at Nottingham Racecourse, said: “We had a total of 45mm of rain yesterday, with 36mm falling between 6pm and midnight, leaving parts of the racetrack waterlogged and unsafe for racing. For the safety of the horses and jockeys, we took the decision to abandon.
"We will be issuing refunds to all ticket bookers in due course and look forward to welcoming everyone for our next fixture on Thursday 29 th June.”
More heavy rain is expected on Monday evening and on Tuesday, June 20, according to the MET Office forecasters
