Nottingham mums create memorial 'tree of hope' at Highfield's Park to commemorate loved ones

A group of Nottingham mums have created a 'tree of hope' at Highfield's Park, which now features over 50 different hand-painted rocks to commemorate lost loved ones.

The idea is simple in that adults or children can paint a rock and then place it at the base of the tree while offering prayers, wishes or messages of support. The tree created by Maxine Hawker, Jo Norcup and Sarah Gaskell, has now been a memorial site for just over two years.

The tree which is signposted as 'The Tree of Hope' is located near the baby loss memorial garden which is also in the park. The group was hoping to give their children a way to explore nature and get crafty during Covid. The idea has grown into a commemorative site that now incorporates messages of support for Ukrainians who are experiencing war in their home country.
