A distraught mum has told of her anger after finding two 'smoking lighter size' bones in her daughter's lunch. Gayle Byrne, a receptionist from Aspley, said the discovery came as a "shock" as she just wanted to have a lovely Easter meal on Sunday (April 17).
But what she found later in her 17-year-old daughter's meal ordered from one of her favourite restaurants has spoilt the day, she told Nottinghamshire Live. It came as Ms Byrne said she ordered three meals from Holly Tree Farm in Strelley, one of which was a child's turkey carvery for her daughter.
"I did not feel well so I did not cook and just ordered three meals for myself, my daughter and her boyfriend", the 50-year-old said. "It is one of our favourite places and we have been there before, so we thought to get something delivered from them. I was actually looking forward to it."

When Ms Byrne checked her daughter's meal, however, what she found left her in "shock". She added. "Luckily, I always check to see if the food is okay. I just could not believe it when I saw two big bones in the carvery. I was shocked."
What worries her the most is that her daughter's meal was a child's menu. "It is dangerous for a young person or a child. Had I not checked the meal first the bone could have cut her mouth or worse. They are almost the size of a smoking lighter", she added.
"It is absolutely unacceptable", she said. She later complained to the restaurant about the issue. After writing a review about the experience, she was offered a £20 gift card.

However, she said that nothing can change her mind now. Ms Byrne said: "This put me off. It was insulting that they offered the voucher because that was not the point. I am never setting foot there again."
A spokesperson for Holly Tree Farm said: "We have apologised directly to our customer and offered a gift card to welcome her and her family into our restaurant so we can make it up to them, in addition to the refund that she can request from Deliveroo. The turkey served from our carvery is freshly cooked on the bone and when it was sliced, some of the bone was included in the takeaway box in error. We are reviewing how this happened to ensure it does not happen again and would like to reiterate our apology for this isolated incident.”
The restaurant went on to clarify that as the meal was ordered through Deliveroo, the refund could not be processed. This is standard practice with all delivery partners.
