The Met Office has issued its weather forecast for the next few days after a heat alert was issued. An Iberian plume whipped up by a block of high pressure across the UK is expected to lead to some blazing temperatures over the weekend and into next week.
In Nottingham temperatures are expected to reach around 26°C on Saturday, June 10 and 25°C on Sunday, June 11. The hot and dry weather is also expected to last into next week.
There is also a warning that the warmer temperatures could lead to isolated thunderstorms. But the current Met Office forecast shows the dry weather is here to stay.

Thursday's Met Office forecast for Nottingham reads: "Largely cloudy initially, cloud lifting and retreating back towards the coast through the morning to allow sunny periods to develop inland during the afternoon. Mostly light winds but feeling breezy over western hills. Warm away from coasts Maximum temperature 19°C."
Overnight temperatures are expected to drop no lower than 10°C. Friday is expected to feature 'long sunny periods', with temperatures reaching 20°C.
Temperatures are expected to peak at around 26°C in Nottingham on Saturday and 25°C on Sunday and Monday. The long-term forecast says 'hot and humid conditions' are expected into next week.
The yellow heat health alert is in place from 9am on Friday 9 June, to 9am on Monday, June 12 and warns that the health and care sector could suffer as a result. A yellow alert means that weather could increase the use of health services needed by vulnerable parts of the population, especially the elderly or those with pre-existing conditions.
