Young Nottingham Forest striker Will Swan is facing time on the sidelines after picking up an ankle ligament injury in training.
Swan is currently on a season-long loan at League Two side Mansfield Town, and has been impressing with nine goals to his name so far this season. The 22-year-old has now received some bad news, however, with Mansfield boss Nigel Clough confirming that Swan has ligament damage.
Speaking to Mansfield Town's official website, Clough said: “Will Swan, we’ve not had good news on him really. He’s had a scan and he’s done some ligament damage in his ankle in training last week.”

Swan has made two competitive appearances for Forest, both coming in the Championship during the 2020-21 season. He also spent some time on loan at Port Vale during that campaign, but it has not been until this season that he has really kicked on. Last season he scored 12 goals for the under-23s in Premier League 2 action, and is replicating that form in the fourth division.
His Forest contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and with Forest now in the Premier League it remains to be seen what the future might hold for the youngster.
