Nottingham Forest Wembley kit hint dropped as Huddersfield decision revealed

Nottingham Forest fans are waiting to find out which kit their team will be wearing at Wembley for the Championship play-off final - but the situation has become somewhat clearer.

Steve Cooper's side take on Huddersfield Town at the National Stadium for a place in the Premier League on May 29 (4.30pm kick-off). Forest saw off Sheffield United on penalties in their semi-final, after the Terriers had edged past Luton Town.

Huddersfield Town were given the first choice over what kit they would like to wear for the final after they finished one position above the Reds in the Championship standings, YorkshireLive reports. Carlos Corberan's side have apparently elected to wear their blue and white striped home shirt with white shorts and black socks.

Forest have yet to officially announce what kit they will wear; however, it seems EFL restrictions would prevent them from wearing white shorts with their traditional red home shirts due to a potential clash. With that in mind, they could opt to wear their luminous yellow and green third strip at Wembley instead.

The Reds could wear their usual away kit (navy blue/purple shirt, navy blue shorts and navy blue/purple socks), although this was not used when the two sides met back in September 2021. It is probably a fair assumption to say that the officials would again deem this to be too much of a clash with Huddersfield's black socks.

When they met in the first few weeks of the season, Forest instead chose to wear their luminous green and yellow third kit. It could be likely, therefore, that the Reds don that kit once again when they head onto the Wembley pitch next Sunday.

Forest picked up their first win of the season, under the guidance of interim boss Steven Reid, when they wore that kit in September - beating Huddersfield 2-0 at the John Smiths' Stadium. They have lost just twice this season when wearing the changed kit - at Cardiff City and AFC Bournemouth. The kit was also worn in the 2-1 first-leg win at Sheffield United.

Unfortunately for Reds fans, the club are currently advertising all three sets of kit as being out of stock on their online store.
