Nottingham Forest 'weigh up' transfer bid as asking price revealed

Nottingham Forest are reportedly showing interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier, along with three other Premier League clubs.

The midfielder has been a standout performer for Chris Wilder's side recently, becoming a creative outlet for the team in the 2021-22 season. The 23 year-old scored five times and provided a further five assists from left, right and central midfield during the campaign as Middlesbrough finished just outside of the play-off places.

According to the website Football League World, the player’s future at Middlesbrough now looks uncertain with Forest among four Premier League teams to be interested in a potential move this summer. The report says that Forest, Everton, Bournemouth and Leicester City are all ‘weighing up bids’ for the midfielder.

It is added that Middlesbrough are likely to demand a transfer fee of around £10 million should they decide to cash in this summer. Boro are said to be ‘braced’ to lose the player in the summer window.

Midfield is an area Steve Cooper is keen to strengthen before the start of the season. The Reds are said to have made a bid for Huddersfield man Lewis O'Brien and are closing in on a deal for the midfielder.

If Forest make a move to bring in former loanee James Garner on a permanent deal from Manchester United, that is yet to be seen. The Reds will now be unable to re-sign the player on another loan deal from Old Trafford due to the loan signing of Dean Henderson from United.

Cooper has already been active in the transfer window so far, with the club adding six new players as they prepare for life in the Premier League. Forest kick off their campaign on August 6 when they take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
