Nottingham Forest warned history will repeat itself in 'massive' Fulham match

Nottingham Forest have been warned that Friday night's fixture against Fulham is a 'massive game' following the damaging defeat against the other newly promoted side Bournemouth last time out.

Back at the City Ground and under the lights, head coach Steve Cooper's side have an opportunity to show their resilience by responding 13 days on from their second-half collapse against the managerless Cherries. The Reds remain second-bottom of the Premier League table and only above their East Midlands rivals Leicester City.

After almost a fortnight on the training pitch to work with the club's reshaped squad, Cooper has to prepare his side for the season's surprise side, Fulham. Marco Silva's side have caught the eye by beating Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion after coming close to taking all three points against Liverpool on the opening day.

"This is a massive game for Nottingham Forest, after they lost 3-2 to Bournemouth last time out at the City Ground, after leading 2-0," Chris Sutton told the BBC. "I thought the manner of that defeat could be damaging for Forest and their fans, and we might find out how resilient they are here because Fulham will have a real go at them.

"Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice when Fulham won this fixture 4-0 in the Championship last season. Forest fans won't thank me for saying this, but I don't think they will keep Mitrovic quiet this time either, even though they have a completely different team."

Is this Fulham fixture Forest's biggest of the season so far? Have your say in the comments...
