Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham LIVE: Premier League result, latest updates and reaction

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham LIVE!

Tottenham earned their first point of the Premier League season, but are still after their first win of the campaign following a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Roberto De Zerbi’s side had lost their opening two matches against Brentford and Newcastle, but handed a debut to Mykhailo Mudryk off the bench as they chased a maiden victory of the term.

The Chelsea loanee, however, had minimal impact as Spurs were fortunate not to lose this fixture, with Neco Williams thinking he had opened the scoring when he bundled over the line in the second half. The strike was ruled out for handball, and the visitors escaped the City Ground with a point, that they dug in to earn with the home side growing in confidence, buoyed by their raucous support.

Omar Marmoush missed a big chance for Spurs when he lashed wide, while Jair Cunha’s half volley narrowly missed the target. Dominic Solanke’s header late on was just over from Mohammed Kudus’ cross as the two substitutes linked up, but the spoils were shared in Nottinghamshire.

Tottenham have their first point of the season, but they remain goalless after three games. No shots on target from Roberto De Zerbi's side, who were lucky not to have lost the game when Neco Williams was adjudged to have handled the ball into the back of the net.

Sam Tabuteau reports

16:27 , Oli Gent

70 mins: Tottenham have got away with one there. It was calamitous defending from Tonali and Van Hecke. A lifeline for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

16:27 , Oli Gent

69 mins: No goal! VAR has intervened, and shows Williams handled it on the way in!

Sam Tabuteau reports

16:26 , Oli Gent

68 mins: A goal befitting of the game as Neco Williams scrambles the ball in on the goal line. Really brave work from Williams, who had been a target for Spurs during the summer transfer window.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham

16:25 , Oli Gent

66 mins: Forest are ahead, and in bizarre circumstances.

Tonali is down in the Spurs goal as Gibbs-White looks to get it into the six-yard box, and Williams gets in between the two defenders, and it bobbles in!

Sam Tabuteau reports

16:24 , Oli Gent

64 mins: There has not been any real change to the tempo of this game since the break and so De Zerbi turns to his bench. Savio had been lively but unproductive and so Kudus comes on. The Ghanaian was bright off the bench against Newcastle.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

16:08 , Oli Gent

49 mins: Big chance! Spurs break down the left with Tonali, and Gallagher comes onto it on the edge of the area, but he dallies, and can’t get a shot off!

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

16:07 , Oli Gent

48 mins: A more reserved start from Forest, knocking the ball about. When will this second period explode into life?

Kick off!

16:04 , Oli Gent

46 mins: Back underway.

Sam Tabuteau reports

15:50 , Oli Gent

That half will not live long in the memory. Scrappy from the outset, neither team have managed to get a hold of the ball, though Forest have had the better of the chances. Spurs do not look any closer to breaking their goalscoring duct in the Premier League this afternoon.

HT: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:48 , Oli Gent

There’s the interval. Spurs had the better of the early exchanges, but Forest have really grown into this one.

What will the second half have in store?

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:47 , Oli Gent

45 mins: One added minute.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:44 , Oli Gent

43 mins: Good save! Kinsky gets out quickly after Gibbs-White spins in behind following Delap’s decoy move. He bears down on goal, but he can’t slide it beyond the Spurs keeper!

Sam Tabuteau reports

15:43 , Oli Gent

42 mins: Gallagher and Tonali have both dropped into the full-back positions during this half to allow Porro and Udogie to push on. It is an interesting approach but not one that has given Spurs any particular edge. Aside from Porro's ball in behind for Marmoush that has not been any threat from out wide for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:42 , Oli Gent

40 mins: Again, no real clear cut chances so far for either side, barring that Marmoush effort.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:38 , Oli Gent

37 mins: The hosts are playing well now, and Spurs are having to suck up some pressure. The City Ground has been whipped up by the rise in level.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:35 , Oli Gent

34 mins: McAtee with the Forest corner. It’s deep for Murillo who leans back and looks to glance it back into the melee, but it’s over the top.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:33 , Oli Gent

31 mins: Close! Williams digs out a cross, which falls to Cunha on the edge of the area, but his half-volley whistles over the top!

Sam Tabuteau reports

15:31 , Oli Gent

28 mins: Tottenham, as they did against Newcastle, seeing plenty of the ball but not doing an awful lot with it. This has been an evenly contested game so far, but it has also lacked quality. Savio has looked bright but outside of that there has been little to write home about.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:27 , Oli Gent

24 mins: The Forest defensive shape is so tight and forcing Spurs out wide, but as soon as the visitors lose the ball, the hosts are on it and on the counter quickly. De Zerbi’s men must be careful.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:22 , Oli Gent

21 mins: Spurs free kick here, as Porro looks to whip one in from the right channel. He looks for Bentancur who makes the first contact, but Forest force the visitors back, and they come again.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:19 , Oli Gent

18 mins: Big miss! Spurs are in, as Marmoush is threaded through, and he looks up and powers an effort towards the far corner, but it’s wide! He should have scored!

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:15 , Oli Gent

15 mins: Delap lays it off for McAtee who looks for the sidefooted curler from range, but it’s tame and straight at Kinsky.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:13 , Oli Gent

12 mins: 70 per cent possession for Spurs so far in this match, but no real clear cut chances to mention yet.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:11 , Oli Gent

9 mins: A Spurs corner falls for Tel who teases his man on the edge of the area and look to cross. It hits Aina on the arm and goes behind, but the penalty claims are half-hearted as the visitors have another corner.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:07 , Oli Gent

7 mins: It’s been a high octane start from both sides, with quick counters, going back to front in the blink of an eye, and there are some heavy challenges going in. McAtee is penalised for a clip on Van de Ven.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:06 , Oli Gent

5 mins: Spurs looking for the clip over the top from Kinsky, searching for Tel, but it runs all the way through for Sels.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham

15:04 , Oli Gent

3 mins: Xaver Schlager getting stuck in early on for the hosts, pressing the Spurs midfield and a bundle of energy in the engine room.

What will Mudryk offer to Tottenham?

14:40 , Arthur Ferridge

When Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham took to LinkedIn this week to discuss the club’s summer transfer window, he described the “months of scouting, analysis and planning” that went into overhauling a squad that came within a hair of being relegated to the Championship last season.

Indeed, Spurs started breathlessly in the transfer market, quickly identifying and convincing targets to buy into Roberto De Zerbi’s project.

However, as the deadline edged closer, panic seemed to set in. Spurs, having failed to score in either of their opening two league games, were still short in attack and had missed out on their top two targets in Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye.

De Zerbi, Venkatesham, and sporting director Johan Lange were left scrambling for market opportunities before landing on a Deadline Day loan deal for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who has not played a competitive match since November 2024 due to a doping ban, and it is fair to say Spurs have taken a risk in helping to rehabilitate the Ukrainian’s career.

For all the talk of surefire signings, Mudryk is the antithesis. An unpolished gem, all pace and power. But a player ultimately lacking finesse and a footballing education.

But why will the move work? Click here to see Sam Tabuteau’s argument...

Glasner: Forest know what to expect from Tottenham

14:30 , Arthur Ferridge

"They have many options. They have invested massively in their squad and that makes it difficult to know who will probably start.

“On the other side, De Zerbi has a clear way he plays with his teams. That makes it a little bit easier to prepare. The patterns are very obvious.

“They have certain ways we expect them to press us and that is how we prepare the team."

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham pre-match fact file

14:20 , Arthur Ferridge

Nottingham Forest have won their last four Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur – they’ve never won five league games in a row against Spurs.

Spurs have lost 3-0 against Brentford and 2-0 against Newcastle in the Premier League this season. They’ve lost each of their first three league games in just four previous campaigns – 1912-13, 1958-59, 1974-75 and 1979-80.

Only Bruno Fernandes (22) has been involved in more Premier League goals in 2026 than Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White (17 – 13 goals, 4 assists), with Gibbs-White’s 13 goals the most in the competition so far this year.

Spurs striker Dominic Solanke has been involved in six goals in four league appearances against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground (4 goals, 2 assists), including his only senior career hat-trick to date (for Bournemouth in December 2023).

Shearer: Spurs are in for another tough season

14:10 , Arthur Ferridge

“I've not seen anything from Spurs that suggests that they can have a good season. I guess it's been alarming really, the first two results and how it has happened.

“I feel for the Spurs fans. You can imagine the noise increasing if it goes against them again tomorrow, and I think it will. I'm going to go for a home win for Forest.

“Some of De Zerbi’s comments to say some players aren't fit, particularly Tonali who wasn't even at the World Cup, would be the most alarming thing for me.

“This is already a huge game because you can just imagine the noise already if Spurs get beaten again tomorrow.” (via BetFair)

Nottingham Forest team news

14:03 , Arthur Ferridge

Neco Williams is in from the off here, fresh from signing a new contract at the behest of Mr Marinakis.

Liam Delap leads the line - it’ll be his full debut for Forest since calling time on a miserable single-season spell at Chelsea.

Daniel Muñoz, potentially a debutant today, is on the bench.

Sam Tabuteau reports

14:01 , Arthur Ferridge

Savio comes straight back into the starting lineup, but Mateus Fernandes drops to the bench. Feels like a case of one in one out for Spurs at the moment. Could be tactical, but surely De Zerbi is keen to build familiarity with Spurs’ new signings. After a disrupted pre-season, the constant chopping and changing is an issue.

Tottenham team news

13:55 , Arthur Ferridge

It is a strong side from De Zerbi, who appears to have gone full strength wherever possible. Both his recruits from Man City start in the front three, with Tel completing the forward line.

Archie Gray drops to the bench, with no space available at full-back or in midfield. He is joined there by Mateus Fernandes.

Mohammed Kudus and Mykhailo Mudryk are both among the substitutes, too.

Summer signing Tosin Adarabioyo is left in north London.

Standard Sport prediction

13:05 , Arthur Ferridge

Roberto De Zerbi has plenty of work still to do with this team as he looks to bed in his numerous summer signings. Previous matches have shown there will be abundant growing pains.

The City Ground is never an easy place to go, in spite of Forest’s similar struggles in the early days of this campaign.

As both sides look to figure themselves out, this may well end in a stalemate.

2-2 draw.
