The January transfer window is less than six weeks away now and Nottingham Forest are set to be tempted back into the market to supplement their significant number of summer signings.
An impending arrival of Brazilian attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa on a free transfer from Palmeiras is the window's worst-kept secret, but whether others will follow remains to be seen. Head coach Steve Cooper 's squad continues to gel and results earlier this month saw the Reds rise to the edge of the Premier League relegation zone.
As was the case during the summer, several players are already being linked with Forest ahead of the window officially opening on January 1. Below are a selection of the latest rumours of incomings and outgoings at the City Ground ahead of the new year.

Agent contact
Forest are said to have enquired about promising young German defender Jamil Siebert ahead of the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old Fortuna Dusseldorf centre-back is currently on loan at Viktoria Koln. But he has reportedly been attracting interest from elsewhere, including from the Reds.
German newspaper Bild claim Forest have expressed an interest in signing Siebert in January. They would have to fight off competition from Jose Mourinho’s Roma for his signature, while it is also suggested he could stay with his loan side until the summer.
Shock switch shot down
Forest loanee Renan Lodi seems set to stay at the City Ground this season as there is reportedly 'no ongoing negotiation' with Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.
The 16-cap Brazil international has been training back with the Curitiba-based club he first joined as a teenager in recent days and is "keeping his shape" after not being named in the national team's squad for the World Cup. Lodi has made eight appearances for the Reds since arriving from parent side Atletico Madrid in late August.
A first goal for the club came against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup third round victory, and the left-back also started the final match before the Premier League paused against Crystal Palace, another win. Despite playing reasonably regularly, photos of the player back in Brazil had contributed to rumours about an early end to the loan agreement.
State of play
The pause in the Premier League season provides Forest with the chance to reflect as well as the opportunity to look ahead.
And that includes turning attention towards January. Head coach Cooper will hold talks with sporting director Filippo Giraldi during the World Cup break about transfer plans.
Given the Reds made 22 signings in the summer, it will be a significantly quieter window this time around. We take a look at the current state of play.
Transfer instruction
Some Forest supporters seem set on wanting a new striker to arrive during the January transfer window when it opens in six weeks' time.
Only rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers have scored less (eight) than the Reds' 11 goals so far this season in the Premier League. Summer signing Taiwo Awoniyi is the club's top scorer with just three, while Morgan Gibbs-White and Brennan Johnson are the only other players with more than one league goal.
Forest fans are suggesting that a goalscorer is of paramount importance during the winter window as they aim to fire themselves away from the relegation zone in the new year.
