Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Manager reveals Nottingham Forest transfer talks
Hull City boss Liam Rosenior says “positive discussions” have been held amid interest in Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo.
The left-back finds himself down the pecking order at the City Ground , following his summer move from Huddersfield Town. With Renan Lodi in fine form and Neco Williams providing an option on that flank, Toffolo has found game time hard to come by.
His challenge will become even tougher once Omar Richards returns from a hairline fracture of the leg, with the club hoping the ex-Bayern Munich man will soon return to full training. Belgian outfit Anderlecht have also been linked, but the Tigers are keen to secure a loan deal for Toffolo before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline, and Rosenior has spoken of his admiration for the player.

Brennan Johnson’s Derby jibe
Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has reacted after the Reds' under-21s thrashed Derby County 7-2 last night (Friday).
Goals from Ateef Konate (x2), Josh Powell (x2), Julian Larsson (x2) and Oli Hammond secured the young Forest team all three points from the Premier League 2 Division 2 clash.
Forest posted about the result on their Instagram page, calling the youngsters' display a "stunning performance" and Brennan Johnson was among those to react in the comments section.
Forest ‘considering Leeds transfer hijack
Nottingham Forest are reportedly "considering" a move for Leeds United target Weston McKennie.
The American midfielder is close to joining Leeds from Juventus, with the two clubs deep in talks over a transfer, but nothing has been finalised yet, although there is reports that the two clubs have reached an agreement.
According to The Athletic , Forest are mulling over a "late attempt" to hijack the deal and sign McKennie before the transfer deadline on Tuesday. Leeds want to sign the United States international on loan, with an option to buy, but now face late competition from Forest.
O’Brien ‘close’ to Forest exit
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien is "close" to completing a loan move to Championship side West Bromwich Albion, according to reports.
The 24-year-old only arrived at the City Ground in the summer, signing from Huddersfield Town. But he has struggled to play regularly in the Premier League so far this campaign and now looks set to return to the Championship for the second half of the season, according to various reports.
O’Brien worked with Baggies boss Carlos Corberan during their time at Huddersfield with the two now set to be reunited. The potential move comes after reports that Steve Cooper was willing to let both O’Brien and Harry Toffolo leave this window in order to make room in his 25-man Premier League squad.
