Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade has revealed that he had a chance of moving to Nottingham Forest in January, but turned down the move due to an ‘agreement’ with the Fluminense president.
The 21-year-old has impressed with his performances in Brazil after breaking into the Fluminense first team during the 19/20 season. He became a regular in the team the following campaign, and the player has made a total of 118 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
His performances on the domestic stage have also earned him a call-up to the Brazil squad for the current international break. He could make his international debut in Saturday’s friendly against Morocco.

While Trindade will be training alongside Forest’s Renan Lodi, he has revealed that he turned down the chance to pursue a possible move to the City Ground in January. The midfielder explained that there was both football and personal reasons behind his decision.
“The team that Danilo joined (wanted me). Fulham also probed,” he told 3na Area, via HITC . “But I already had an agreement with the president, largely because of Diniz (Fluminense manager) who also wanted to keep the squad for this season.
“I was living a moment when my wife was in the final stages of her pregnancy and I chose to stay here for this great reason.”
As mentioned by Trindade, following the rejection, Forest moved onto other targets. Steve Cooper ’s side completed a move for fellow Brazilian Danilo from Palmeiras.
The 21-year-old has struggled for game time at the City Ground so far, starting just two Premier League games since moving to the club. He was an unused substitute for last Friday’s 2-1 loss against Newcastle United.
