Nottingham Forest transfer clause revealed as midfielder arrival imminent

Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed to a sell-on clause as part of transfer of Orel Mangala.

Forest are close to announcing the arrival of the 24-year-old midfielder from Bundesliga side Stuttgart. He will become the Reds' twelfth signing of the summer and the second player to come in from the German top flight after Moussa Niakhate joined from Mainz last month.

According to German outlet Kicker, there is a 14 per cent sell-on clause in the deal negotiated between Stuttgart and Forest. It is usually the case that the sell-on clause only applies to profits made on a transfer, but that has not been made clear in this instance.

Kicker only say Stuttgart have negotiated a "resale share of 14 per cent", but they also add that the transfer fee is €13 million, plus €4 million in bonuses. Mangala, who is under contract at Stuttgart until 2024, was a regular in the Bundesliga last season, making 22 starts and four substitute appearances.

Pictures have been circulating on social media that appear to show Mangala posing in a Forest shirt ahead of his pending arrival at the City Ground. The images have stirred up excitement among Reds supporters as the season opener against Newcastle (August 6) nears ever closer.

Mangala may be in attendance to see his new teammates in action as Forest face Valencia in a pre-season friendly at Meadow Lane this evening. Former Man United midfielder Jesse Lingard could be in line for his Nottingham Forest debut during the match, which gets under way at 6pm BST.
