Former Nottingham Forest striker Robert Earnshaw has predicted that Nottingham Forest will stay in the Premier League this season, as long as they approach the campaign in the right way, just as Brentford did last year.
The Reds are gearing up for their first game in the top flight in 23 years in just over a week’s time. Forest start their campaign with a trip north to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Forest have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window, adding 11 new faces to their squad so far. And it seems that Steve Cooper is keen to add further before the end of next month.

It’s the business in the transfer market that is one of the reasons Earnshaw believes Premier League football will stay at the City Ground beyond the end of the new campaign. “I think the concern always is when you get promoted, and you get promoted after such a long period of time away, like Nottingham Forest,” he told Sky Sports.
“Nottingham Forest is a huge club - I’ve been there, I’ve played there - a great club. We all know the history. I think all of the young people now are going to learn the history of Nottingham Forest.
“But are they going to stay up? For me, right now, I think the business that they’ve done, I believe they are going to stay up. I think they are in a good position.
“Mr Cooper as I call him, Steve Cooper, the manager, I think he’s done very very well, one of the most impressive years I’ve seen from a manager. Going into the Premier League, I think he’s going to enjoy it even more, so I believe they’re going to stay up.”
The former Wales international has also picked out one team in particular who he believes Forest should replicate this season should they wish to have success in the division.
“I hope they can approach it with attack football, not defensive, stay at home, because I know in the Premier League you can’t be very very safe, you’ve got to go all out,” he added. “Brentford I watched last year had an impressive year and stayed in the Premier League, you’ve got to approach it that way.”
