Nottingham Forest to make decision on £20m striker as new transfer details emerge

Nottingham Forest are reportedly deciding whether to "formalise their interest" in Watford star Emmanuel Dennis.

The Reds were said to be showing an interest in the Hornets striker last month, with sources close to the player "encouraged by meetings that took place with the Forest hierarchy." Now Sky Sports are saying that Forest would prefer a loan with an option to buy the player, who is valued at around £20million.

According to Sky, Forest are now deciding whether to step up their interest in the player, with the summer transfer window set to close on September 1. The 24-year-old is also apparently attracting interest from Everton, Fulham, Southampton, West Ham and Villarreal.

Dennis completed a £3.6m switch from Club Brugge last summer and went on to make an instant impact in the Premier League, before the Hornets were ultimately relegated.

Head coach Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his attacking options, with Dennis potentially set to be partnered with fellow Nigeria international and club record signing Taiwo Awoniyi up front.

Meanwhile Hornets boss Rob Edwards addressed the interest from clubs on the Nigeria international.

He said: "We’re prepared for if [he] does move on, we’ve done our due diligence. If and when we need to recruit we’re ready and we will. Until then, I’ll have him to select."
