Nottingham Forest have stepped up their interest in Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet, according to reports.
The winger, who can also play at wing-back, was one of the Clarets' best players last season as they were relegated on the final day of the Premier League season. Cornet scored nine goals in 26 games for Burnley after arriving from Lyon for £12.85 million.
Now, after their drop down to the Championship, Forest and Everton are the two clubs tipped to lure the Ivory Coast international away from Turf Moor for an instant return to the Premier League. And according to The Times, Steve Cooper's side have 'stepped up' their efforts to sign the 25-year-old.

The report claims that the Reds have made their move to add Cornet to their squad this summer with a bid submitted. However, their first bid lies under the reported £17.5 million buy-out clause in the winger's contract.
Prior to his move to England, spent his whole career in France after rising through the youth academy at Metz. He made his professional debut in August 2013, one of 25 appearances for the French side before being snapped up by Lyon in January 2015.
Cornet made over 250 appearances for Les Gones, scoring 51 goals and adding a further 29 assists across his five and a half years at the club. He played a starring role in Lyon's famous 3-1 Champions League quarter-final victory over Manchester United in August 2020, scoring the opener with a smart finish.
