The 28-year-old will reportedly join the Reds in January once his contract with Brazilian giants Palmeiras comes to an end. Contracts in Brazil work differently to those in England - they expire on December 31, meaning players are free to negotiate pre-contract moves in summer, the same way out-of-contract players in England can do in January.
Scarpa, an attacking midfielder, has been an ever-present for Palmeiras in the Brazilian top flight. He has made 171 appearances over four years, scoring 29 goals.

The 24 year-old former Bayern Munich defender has signed a four-year contract at the City Ground that is set to see the player's peak years spent in the East Midlands. Forest were widely reported to have agreed a fee with the German giants over the weekend and the former England under-21 international has since agreed personal terms with the Reds and undergone a medical ahead of this announcement.
While arriving from Bavaria, Richards is no stranger to English football. Born in Lewisham, southeast London, his footballing career began in the capital at Fulham at the age of 10 before being released by the Craven Cottage club and instead signing a professional contract with Reading.
