Nottingham Forest sent Stuart Pearce demand following West Ham exit

Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to the news that club legend Stuart Pearce has left his role as first team coach at West Ham United.

The former Forest defender, who used to be referred to as 'Psycho', has worked with the Hammers for the last two seasons alongside manager David Moyes. The 60-year-old also worked for the club during the Scotsman’s first spell in charge at the London Stadium.

Pearce's time at West Ham, where he also spent two years as a player, has been a successful one, with the club achieving European qualification in each season. However, despite the Hammers enjoying a run to the Europa League semi-finals this term, the ex-full-back has decided to leave his coaching role.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision to leave West Ham United,” Pearce told the club’s website. “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work at the Club over the past two years, but I have decided that now is the right time to step away and pursue other opportunities and challenges.”

Now that Pearce is essentially a free agent once again, Forest fans have been calling for his return to the City Ground in a coaching capacity. He previously managed the club for the 2014/15 campaign, although he did not see out the season.

Some of our readers on Facebook have been calling for him to made Steve Cooper's assistant ahead of next season. Here is what they had to say:

Keith Tustin: Get him in the dressing room Sunday. Would love him back at Forest. LEGEND

Robert Denman: Can't help but think he might have been one of the catalyst for this year's success. He did improve certain things for Forest when he was in charge.

William Burke: Assistant manager, Pearce and Cooper be the next Clough and Taylor...

Ross Wilson: BRING HIM HOME!

Karen Pryce: I reckon he’s going to be Steve Coopers number 2.

Richard Skidmore: I'd have him at Notts in a heartbeat.

Adrien King: Always have a home at the city ground in one way or another. FOREST LEGEND.

Sue Henderson: Come home Stuart, Forest Legend x

Mark Wolden: Time to come home Psycho

Stuart Dean Lees: He's coming back!!

Simon Dawson: I've had the pleasure of meeting Stuart a few times, all at non football events and I can honestly say he is a top man. Sir, you're a legend.

Liam Reed: Forever remembered in coaching for putting David James up front
