Former Nottingham Forest player Joao Carvalho has penned a heartfelt farewell to Reds supporters after a permanent transfer to Olympiacos was confirmed.
The 24-year-old has joined the Greek Super League leaders also owned by Forest majority shareholder Evangelos Marinakis for an undisclosed fee.
Carvalho continues to divide the fanbase even in the immediate aftermath of his departure, mainly due to the club-record £13 million fee that brought the Portuguese youth international to the City Ground from Benfica in June 2018.
But the attacking midfielder has taken to social media to thanks fans for their "continuous support" and wished them all the best for the rest of the season and beyond.
Here is the full message posted by Carvalho on his Instagram account:
"Today I want to thank you to all Nottingham Forest supporters for the continuous support through the past 3 and a half years. A few years with ups and downs, a lot of personal growth and hard work with always having you by my side.
"I will always remember your kind words, magical songs and the atmosphere at the stadium. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to play for this historical club, a club that I will always support.
" Nottingham gave me memories that I will cherish forever and will always have a special place in my heart.
"Now it’s time to face a new challenge in my career and be happy doing what I love the most: playing football!
"I wish the club and supporters all the best for the rest of the season and for the future. Can’t wait to watch Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. COME ON YOU REDS"
