Nottingham Forest have sent a message to Evangelos Marinakis after the club’s owner shared that he had contracted coronavirus.
It has already been a busy season for Marinakis , having helped bankroll the Reds’ significant summer overhaul. The Greek also handed manager Steve Cooper a new three-year deal earlier this month, brought in Filippo Giraldi as sporting director, and sacked recruitment duo George Syrianos and Andy Scott.
However, it has been confirmed, via Greek club Olympiacos, that Marinakis has tested positive for covid-19. It is the second time that Forest ’s owner has contracted the virus, having first tested positive in March 2020 , prior to the league season being suspended until June that year.

In a statement on social media, Marinakis said: “Following medical tests, I was informed that the coronavirus has visited me again for the second time. Having just mild symptoms, I strictly follow all measures and instructions provided by experts with full trust to my doctors.
“We have to be alert and responsible in order to protect ourselves and our fellow people. To you all, stay strong and take care.”
Quoting the message from Olympiacos’ Twitter feed, Forest replied: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest sends their best wishes to our owner, Evangelos Marinakis, for a swift recovery. Get well soon.”
Forest are preparing to take on Liverpool at the City Ground in a 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday. The Reds will be hoping to make a statement against Jurgen Klopp’s side, where a positive result would help boost morale and take the club one step closer to lifting themselves out of the bottom three.
