Nottingham Forest receive transfer update as clubs line up to sign Morgan Gibbs-White

Signing Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White will cost Nottingham Forest more than £25m according to reports.

The 22-year-old Wolves ace is a target for Forest as Steve Cooper looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League this season. Southampton are also keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Gibbs-White returns to Molineux after an impressive loan spell at Sheffield United. He netted 12 goals and assisted a further 10 in 37 appearances for the Blades

Previous valuations had the forward at around £20m, but the Sun claim the Wolves man will now cost Forest at least £25m to sign permanently. That is largely down to Wolves coach Bruno Lage wanting Gibbs-White to extend his contract beyond the terms of his current 2024 deal.

"In January I did everything to convince him to stay here," Lage said. "It was very clear and I gave him space and time to think about it. At the end of January we spoke and between him, Scott (Sellars), and me we decided he would go and finish the season there. After, we will see. If I want him in January, I continue to want him here because he can be an important player for the club. He's one of the players that comes from the academy and I know it's so important for the club to have that.

"I am a foreigner and we have a lot of foreign players but it's important for the club to have players from the academy and born in the UK, because they love Wolves more than me because they grew up here. I am here just one year and love to be here but the way players like Morgan loves the club is in a different way.”

Cooper's attacking department needs care and attention during the summer transfer window. Sam Surridge and Lyle Taylor are the only contracted Reds players in that position, although they hope to persuade Aston Villa to sell Keinan Davis to them after he had an impressive loan spell at the City Ground.

Discussions will also be held surrounding Lewis Grabban, whose contract is up for renewal this summer but the striker will be 35 by the end of next season.
