Nottingham Forest have been dealt a transfer blow in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow.
The Reds had reportedly submitted a £17 million bid earlier this month and offered a four-year deal to try and prise him away from Deutsche Bank Park. The 25 year-old joined the Bundesliga side in 2019 from Young Boys and has made 118 outings for the club.
Being a box-to-box midfielder, as well as his ability to play any role in central midfield, is said to have been a key factor for the Reds. His pass completion rate is over 90 per cent.

However, Swiss media outlet Blick report that that Sow has decided to stay at Frankfurt, last season's Europa League winners.
It is also being reported that Forest's offer was of £17m plus £4m in add-ons. The Switzerland international is under contract until 2024 at Frankfurt.
Speaking about his ambitions at Frankfurt, Sow said: "I’m not done yet. We have strengthened ourselves well and are ambitious. The road is far from over. It was always my big goal to play in the Champions League with Eintracht."
