Nottingham Forest have received an "official proposal" to sign striker Hwang Ui-jo from American side Chicago Fire, according to reports.
The 30-year-old only joined Forest in the summer, signing from French side Bordeaux. But he went straight on loan to sister club Olympiacos. He has, however, struggled to make an impact in the Greek league, playing just five league games for the club.
He has been left out of the squad entirely since the start of the World Cup, where he represented South Korea. His last appearance came as an 18 minute cameo in a cup game against Atromitos Athen earlier this month.

Hwang was first linked with a move to America at the start of the transfer window, with Atlanta United and Minnesota United both said to be interested in the striker. A move to America would work for the forward, who after playing for both Bordeaux and Olympiacos this season, would not be able to play for a third European club in 2022/23.
It now seems that another MLS team are leading the race to sign the player from Forest this month. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chicago Fire have now made an "official proposal" for the striker, with "discussions ongoing" in order to find an agreement before the end of this month.
Speaking back in December , Hwang opened up about his disappointment that his move to Forest and subsequently Olympiacos hasn’t worked out, but didn’t give too much away about his immediate future.
“The summer transfer market was unfortunate, but I couldn’t help it. I tried to make the best choice," he told Korean news outlet Sport Nate.
"There is nothing I can say. Of course, I dream of the World Cup in four years. I think that if I do my best every day, there will be good results.”
Chicago Fire are on the lookout for a striker this month after the sale of Jhon Duran to Aston Villa earlier in the window. The 19-year-old scored 8 times in 30 appearances for the club last season.
