Nottingham Forest receive Man Utd transfer boost as £34m claim made

Here's a round-up of the latest Nottingham Forest news on Friday, July 7.

Forest await Henderson green light

There is a ‘desire’ from all parties for Manchester United to complete a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana soon, something which could have an impact on Nottingham Forest.

Steve Cooper is keen to make last season’s loan move for Dean Henderson permanent this summer, but has been forced to wait for United to sort out their own goalkeeper situation before any move can be made. David de Gea’s future is in doubt with the Spaniard out of contract at Old Trafford, with United showing an interest in Inter Milan’s Onana.

The Red Devils are said to have seen an opening offer of around £45 million rejected by the Italian team. Sky Sports report that talks are now ongoing as the two teams look to find a ‘compromise’ over the fee.

Scarpa transfer stance as ‘interest’ mounts

Gustavo Scarpa ‘wants to stay’ at Nottingham Forest this summer, despite interest from five different clubs around the world, according to reports in Brazil.

The Brazilian arrived on a free transfer in the January transfer window, but both injury and personal reasons restricted him to just six Premier League appearances. His final appearance of the season came back in April when he came on as a second half substitute in the 2-1 defeat against Leeds United.

A knee injury saw Scarpa miss the remainder of the season as Forest secured their Premier League safety. There has now been doubts over his future at the City Ground, with Besiktas said to have made a loan offer to Forest.

Forest 'eyeing' £34m-rated defender

Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

The Reds are yet to make their first summer signing as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. They are targeting reinforcements in a number of areas, including in central defence.

With that in mind, they have reportedly joined the list of Premier League admirers eyeing up Hincapie. They have placed the 21-year-old on their list of potential targets, according to Bola VIP.

But Forest would face stiff competition for the Ecuador international. Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have also “set their sights” on securing his signature.

Rooney provides Lewis O’Brien update

DC United manager Wayne Rooney has said that it's ‘likely’ that Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien will return to the City Ground at the end of his loan deal after talks between the two clubs.

Last year’s summer signing has spent the last few months on loan with the MLS side after a January deadline day deal with Blackburn Rovers fell through due to late submission of paperwork. O’Brien is due to return to Forest on July 16, when his loan deal expires.

With the MLS season not ending until October, Rooney spoke of his desire to extend the deal until the end of the campaign.
