Nottingham Forest have been dealt a transfer blow over their reported interest in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The 22-year-old rose to prominence during a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last term, where he registered 13 goal involvements and earned his England debut. Gallagher then returned to his parent club and finally made his Chelsea debut on the opening day of the season.
He has made 24 appearances so far across all competitions but has continued to be in and out of the team under Graham Potter, being handed 10 starts in total. Gallagher's situation reportedly prompted interest from Forest this month, with Steve Cooper having twice worked with Gallagher during his time as England u17s and Swansea City boss.

The Daily Mail has reported that Forest were among five top-flight sides to have “registered an interest” over a potential swoop for the England international. Cooper’s side are claimed to have been joined by Palace, Everton, Southampton and Newcastle in tracking the young midfielder’s availability.
However, Gallagher is stated to have “no desire” to leave Chelsea during the current transfer window. Despite his lack of starts, the former Palace loanee has featured in Chelsea’s last eight league games and is claimed to be satisfied with his role under Potter, with the manager also reluctant to see the player move elsewhere.
Forest have already bolstered their midfield ranks this month, though, after signing Danilo from Palmeiras. The highly-rated defensive midfielder, who was previously touted as a target for Arsenal and Chelsea, arrived for £18m on Monday.
