Here are your Nottingham Forest headlines on Thursday, June 15.
Brentford 'bid' for Reds ace
Brentford have reportedly bid £30m for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.
The 22-year-old had been the subject of reported interest from Aston Villa and West Ham in recent days, but another Premier League rival Brentford are now said to have launched a bid.
That's according to The Sun, who claim Forest will reject the approach and say it will take an offer "way beyond £40m" for the Reds to consider a sale this summer. The Bees are also likely to face competition from Premier League rivals for Johnson's signature, should Forest wish to sell - which seems unlikely at present.
'Interest' in Man City man
Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Manchester City winger Carlos Borges, it is claimed.
The 19-year-old is valued at £11m by City, with talks over a potential move said to be at a "preliminary stage".
According to ESPN, Forest are keen but it is "unclear" if City are willing to sell at this stage, with a new contract for Borges at the Premier League champions likely. West Ham have also been linked.
Two friendlies finalised
Nottingham Forest have added two friendlies to their pre-season programme ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
The Reds will play French outfit Stade Rennais at St George’s Park on Wednesday, August 2, with a 7pm kick-off. This match will take place behind closed doors.
Steve Cooper ’s men will take on Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday, August 5, with a 3.30pm local time kick-off. This fixture will round off Forest’s pre-season schedule, before the league action begins on the weekend of August 12-13.
Rooney in transfer request
DC United boss Wayne Rooney wants to extend the loan of midfielder Lewis O'Brien from Nottingham Forest, according to a report.
Former Derby boss Rooney is in charge of the Major League Soccer side and signed O'Brien on a temporary deal in March after a loan exit to Blackburn Rovers in January collapsed.
The midfielder has played 11 matches for Rooney's team so far, scoring one goal and assisting another, while picking up four yellow cards. The regular MLS season ends in October, but O'Brien's loan expires on July 16 and Rooney is keen for it to be extended.
