Teenage midfielder Jamie McDonnell has put pen to paper on a new contract with Nottingham Forest.
The 18-year-old has been a key figure in the Reds’ youth ranks since arriving from Glentoran in July 2020. And he has committed his future to the club by signing fresh terms to extend his stay Trentside.
"I've been here two-and-a-half years now. I've enjoyed every second of it so I'm glad to be keeping this journey going," he told the official website.

"I've enjoyed the transition, starting in the Under-18s, which has helped me develop my game and given me a platform to progress to the Under-21s.”
As captain, McDonnell was integral as the Under-18s reached the FA Youth Cup final for the first time in Forest’s history last season. He led the team out at Old Trafford and put in an accomplished performance as Warren Joyce’s side lost 3-1 to Manchester United.
"The whole journey in the FA Youth Cup last season was amazing, and to play in the final is an experience I'll never forget,” added the youngster, who has represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 and Under-17 level. “But now I want to kick on and keep improving from here."
After 17 league appearances for the Under-18s in 2021/22, McDonnell has made the step up to the Under-21s this term. He has featured six times so far in the Premier League 2 Division 2 campaign.
McDonnell agreeing a new deal comes hot on the heels of teammate Aaron Donnelly doing the same. The Under-21s defender has also penned a new contract at the City Ground.
