Nottingham Forest make transfer decision as duo set for summer exits

Nottingham Forest pair Mohamed Drager and Nicholas Ioannou appear to be poised for transfers away from the City Ground.

Drager, 25, has spent the past six months on-loan at Swiss side FC Luzern. The Tunisia international joined the Reds from fellow Evangelos Marinakis -owned outfit Olympiacos last summer, but has yet to get out on the pitch for Forest.

Ioannou, meanwhile, has spent the 2021/22 season at Italian outfit Como 1907.

NottinghamshireLive understands the pair will both be allowed to make permanent moves away from Trentside. Drager's loan move to FC Luzurn included an option-to-buy for the right-back. The Swiss side have yet to take Forest up on that option.

The length of his Forest contract was not disclosed when he signed, and there’s now every chance he will leave without playing a single game for the club. The 25-year-old has become a popular figure in Luzern having contributed three goals and seven assists in 17 Super League appearances.

Ioannou, meanwhile, was expected to be offered the opportunity to make a stake for a first-team spot in pre-season, but will also now be put up for sale after promotion. The 26-year-old left-back appeared five times for Forest during the 2020/21 season before joining Greek side Aris Saloniki on-loan. His last Forest appearance came back in October 2020 when he was sent off before half-time in a 1-1 draw at Luton Town.

Ioannou joined Serie B side Como last summer on a season-long loan deal and has seemingly enjoyed his time in Italy, making 30 appearances - including 22 starts - as they finished the season in 13th.

"A beautiful journey has come to an end," wrote Ioannou on Instagram. "We went through a lot of ups and downs, but at the end we have achieved what we wanted! I want to thank the board for the opportunity that was given to me to play for this amazing club, all the coaching staff who believed in me and my teammates with whom we shared amazing moments.

"Last but not least, I want to thank our fans for the support and love they gave to me throughout the season. I wish to the club good luck and I will always follow and be a fan of Como 1907."
