Nottingham Forest make Premier League request ahead of West Ham fixture

Nottingham Forest have reportedly asked the Premier League for permission to add defender Steve Cook to their 25-man squad for the remainder of the season due to an injury crisis at the club.

West Ham United welcome Forest to the London Stadium next weekend and Steve Cooper's side will be without Willy Boly and Scott McKenna who picked up long-term injuries against Fulham recently.

With the team lacking options at the back ahead of the match in east London, Forest have asked the Premier League to add Cook who was omitted from the squad they named at the close of the January transfer window despite making 12 appearances during the 2022/23 campaign.

According to the Telegraph, the club have submitted an application for the 31-year-old to be added to their squad and will disclose Boly's medical documentation in the hope that it will boost their chances of their application being successful.

Forest head into this weekend's fixture against current league leaders Man City with Felipe and Joe Worrall as their only fit senior centre-backs.

David Moyes' side faced a similar situation at the start of the season when they only had one fit senior centre back in Kurt Zouma due to injuries to Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, summer addition Nayef Aguerd.
