Nottingham Forest legend Martin O'Neill is eyeing a return to management.
The 69-year-old has been away from the dugout since his six-month spell in charge of Forest ended in June 2019.
Despite his famous trophy-laden playing days at the City Ground, his tenure in charge of the club did not work out.
O'Neill has been open to a return to management since then and would "seriously consider" the right opportunity if it were to arise.
“Football is in my blood," he told The Sun. “I watch a lot of matches and keep in touch through my TV work.
“Not just the Premier League, but also the Bundesliga in Germany and the Eredivisie in the Netherlands.
“I keep in touch and am well-equipped now, knowing these different leagues. And if an opportunity comes up that I feel fits, I would seriously consider it.”
While O'Neill has not returned to management since leaving the City Ground, things may have been different if it wasn't for the coronavirus pandemic.
“Covid blighted a lot and for everyone — it took a couple of years out of people’s lives," O'Neill added.
“I had the opportunity to manage abroad four or five months after Forest, a really interesting challenge, but Covid had just set in.
“I probably would have taken it, however everything was up in the air, so it was just the wrong time unfortunately.”
