Nottingham Forest 'interested' in Leeds United transfer as 'negotiations ongoing'

Nottingham Forest are reportedly "interested" in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville despite the player being in "ongoing" discussions about a contract extension at Elland Road.

The Netherlands under-21 international featured nine times last season, but just one of those came after Marcelo Bielsa was replaced by Jesse Marsch in late February, and that cameo at Watford lasted just eight minutes. Before that, Summerville, 20, had hoped to secure a loan away from the club during the January transfer window in search of more first team football.

Just 12 months remain on the player's current contract in Yorkshire, which was signed when arriving from Feyenoord last summer. That situation has apparently attracted "many clubs", of which the Reds are reportedly one.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Forest, as well as AZ Alkmaar in Summerville's homeland, are both "interested" and that others are "exploring this possibility" of signing the starlet. Leeds are not resigned to losing the player yet, though, as they are busy negotiating with the hope that his future will be decided "as soon as possible".

Sheffield United have also previously been linked with the versatile winger. Should Summerville sign for Forest, he could be expected to replace last season's loanee Philip Zinckernagel, who has since returned to parent club Watford and is understood to be in Athens ahead of signing a three-year contract with Olympiacos.
