Nottingham Forest’s injury situation is showing little sign of easing as they head into the final seven games of the season.
The Reds have been without a number of key players as they fight to retain their Premier League status. And head coach Steve Cooper is not expecting the list of those available to change for Saturday’s clash with Liverpool.
Taiwo Awoniyi made his first start since recovering from groin problem when he was in the starting XI for last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, while Renan Lodi had recovered from a knock which had kept him out of the squad for the previous game, against Aston Villa. Moussa Niakhate had been forced off with a hamstring issue during the match at Villa Park but was fit enough to line up against Erik ten Hag’s side.

Cheikhou Kouyate, however, was not involved last time out, having also had to come off in the West Midlands with a hamstring injury. Gustavo Scarpa, Serge Aurier, Ryan Yates, Chris Wood, Willy Boly, Dean Henderson, Omar Richards and Giulian Biancone remain sidelined.
“We haven’t got any new injures, and unfortunately nobody is quite ready enough to return,” Cooper said ahead of the trip to Anfield. “We are as we were before the Manchester United game.”
Forest make the journey on the back of a 10-match winless run which has left them in the relegation zone. They are level on points with Everton in 17th but have an inferior goal difference, while 16th-placed Leeds United are only two points ahead of them.
