Nottingham Forest hero reveals key factor in City Ground defeat to Tottenham

Former Nottingham Forest centre-back Michael Dawson says Steve Cooper's side were 'magnificent' against Tottenham Hotspur, despite falling to a 2-0 defeat at the City Ground, but quickly homed in on the big difference between the two Premier League teams.

The Reds were the better side in the first half but were unable to capitalise on their chances. And Spurs' greater experience saw striker Harry Kane exploit the gaps in the Forest defence to put his side in front after just five minutes.

The Reds tried to respond with opportunities of their own but, in the end, they were unable to avoid a second defeat of the season as Kane bagged a second to seal the win.

Speaking on Sky Sports, match pundit Dawson said: "It was a really good game of football, but Forest will be really, really disappointed. I thought they were magnificent, I really did. In the final third they could have been a little more clinical, but they had opportunities in the first half, putting it in difficult areas.

"Ryan Yates in the second-half, a header - another big chance, if he scores it's completely different game. But Spurs do what they do. Harry Kane scores goals, he missed a penalty. It was an eventful second half but a better performance for Spurs. That made the difference."
