Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper hasn’t ruled out a “lively” end to the January transfer window.
The Reds have one week left in which to complete their business, having got their fair share of deals done early on.
Striker Keinan Davis, defender Steve Cook and full-back Richie Laryea all arrived within the first few days of January, but the club are still targeting further additions.
And it is likely there will be some outgoings, too, over the next seven days as players who are struggling for game time could be allowed to move on.
Asked if he anticipates some deals potentially going to the wire, Cooper said: “Who knows? Anything can happen - not just with us, but with any club.
Barnsley plea
Barnsley have attempted to get Tuesday’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest postponed due to a shortage of players.
The Tykes are struggling on and off the pitch and sit bottom of the table, despite Derby County’s 21-point deduction.
The Oakwell side are eight points from safety and suffered a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Birmingham City on Saturday.
They will travel to the City Ground as the only side in the EFL without an away win this season.
Rams raid
Nottingham Forest are said to have made an attempt to prise teenager Festy Ebosele from arch-rivals Derby County.
The versatile 19-year-old was in the Rams’ starting line-up on Saturday, but was brought off after an hour as Steve Cooper’s Reds clinched a 2-1 win at the City Ground.
The youngster, who can play at full-back and on the wing, is out of contract in the summer and is said to have a number of teams monitoring him.
According to a report in the Mail on Sunday, he “rejected a move” to Forest after a £500,000 bid was made.
Transfer message
Boss Steve Cooper says Nottingham Forest have plenty of options to cope with the absence of defender Joe Worrall without the need to “dive” into the transfer market for a replacement.
It comes as the Welshman insists there is “zero truth” to national reports which have linked the Reds with chasing Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson.
Nigel Doughty Academy graduate Worrall is facing six weeks on the sidelines after breaking three ribs in the 1-0 win at Millwall.
It is a big blow, given he has been a key figure and looked to be developing an understanding with Scott McKenna and Steve Cook as part of a back three.
