Nottingham Forest are expected to send goalkeeper George Shelvey out on-loan to continue his development away from the City Ground, but it may not be until after January.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper was recalled from a loan spell at Mansfield Town earlier in January after he found playing time limited with the Stags.
He made just three appearances - all of which came in the EFL Trophy - as he found himself back-up 'keeper to Manchester United's Nathan Bishop.
Shelvey signed a new contract with Forest in March 2021 whilst on-loan at National League outfit Wealdstone. A knock to his ankle meant he appeared only five times for the Stones during that loan spell.
NottinghamshireLive understands the young 'keeper is expected to depart the City Ground on loan terms once again with a move to the National League looking most likely.
Unlike teams in the EFL and Premier League, National League sides have until 5pm on March 24 to register players as part of their squads, meaning he could exit Forest beyond January.
Forest U23s coach Andy Reid said earlier in the month that loan departures from his youth side were possible but they "have to be the right loans".
He told NottinghamshireLive: "This is where we talk about development of players. It would be easy for me to say I want to keep everyone in and be pretty strong, but that is not always the right thing for the players.
"There will be players going out on loan, I'm pretty sure of that, and it'll be for their development and for them to experience first-team football.
"They can then come back to the club and really make an impact in pre-season."
Will Swan and Ateef Konate have also been tipped to make loan moves away from Trentside.
The duo have produced a number of impressive performances for the Reds' U23 side and the club will consider how they can continue their development elsewhere.
Reid said: "Will Swan got a goal for us against Norwich and he has been excellent all season. I rate him really highly and think a lot of him.
"Since I first took this job he has been excellent. I pushed him last season to get his opportunity with the first-team and he could be one that needs to go and get football.
"You could also look at Ateef Konate. I thought at times he was excellent and showed what he can do. He scored a great goal the other night [against Fulham].
"We will probably need to see where we go with him as well."
"We will weigh it up and take it case by case," Reid continued. "They have to go to the right clubs. We can't just send them somewhere where they're not going to develop.
"It's really important for me that when they go away they are getting coached the right, the facilities are what we are looking for and that teams play them.
"We have never been a club to tell others that our players out on loan have to play because I believe they need to earn their way into the team - Gary Brazil has said that to me before and I feel it is really important too.
"But they have to be given opportunities. There is no point them going somewhere and sitting on the bench for three months, that is not what we are looking for."
