Nottingham Forest have been handed a significant boost in their attempts to sign Wales star Neco Williams from Liverpool.
The full-back is expected to leave Anfield this summer, with the Reds slapping a £15million price tag around his neck. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Fulham, who are rivaling Forest in their quest to bring Williams on board.
But the Cottagers appear to be moving on from the Welshman and have identified former Newcastle United defender Kevin Mbabu to plug their gap on the right-hand side of defence. An £8million offer is being readied, report the Mail.

That leaves Forest having a free run at 21-year-old Williams, who has become a key part of Rob Page's international plans with Wales. The full-back is set to be included in the squad heading to Qatar this winter. Williams knows Forest boss Steve Cooper from their time together in Liverpool's academy when the latter was coaching there, thus handing the City Ground club an advantage in their battle with the Londoners.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has brought in Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen this summer as competition for first choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, rending Williams surplus to requirements on Merseyside.
Cooper has also expressed interest in Williams' international team-mate Joe Rodon, who is inching closer to the exit door at Tottenham.
