Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien has been linked with a transfer to newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at MLS side DC United who are coached by former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney.
He was set to join Championship side Blackburn Rovers in January before a move to fellow through on deadline day. An appeal by Rovers in an attempt to complete the transfer was also unsuccessful.

But now The Sun claim that O'Brien is of interest to the Blades with the former Huddersfield player 'surplus to requirements' at the City Ground when his loan spell in the US ends in July.
O'Brien was left out of the Reds' Premier League squad for the second half of the season after failing to impress Forest boss Steve Cooper, during his 15 appearances at the club since arriving last summer.
The report claims that Forest would consider a loan or permanent deal for the midfielder, with 'the only snag' being whether to deal with a top-flight rival.
It is also claimed that the Blades have a reduced transfer budget despite their promotion with the club's Saudi owner Prince Abdullah 'trying to bolster his kitty' by getting more financial assistance from allies in the Middle East.
