Nottingham Forest 'fee agreed' for Atletico Madrid star

Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Felipe.

The Reds have been hunting for a centre-back throughout January and looked to face late competition from Bayer Leverkusen for his signature.

However, Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett has reported that Forest have agreed a deal for the 33-year-old, who will undergo a medical.

He tweeted: “#nffc have agreed a fee with #atletico Madrid for Brazil CB Felipe. Expected to fly to UK later and undergo a medical. Forest have beaten Bayer Leverkusen to this one.”

At 33, Felipe would bring bags of experience to Forest’s backline, but he has barely played this season. The defender has only featured in four Atletico matches, three of which ended in defeat.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claims that Forest are now close to recruiting the centre-back. He tweeted: “Nottingham Forest are now in advanced talks to sign Felipe as new centre back, discussions ongoing with Atlético Madrid."

Felipe joined Atletico from Porto in 2019 for a fee in the region of €20million following three years with the Portuguese giants. He has made a total of 46 appearances in the Champions League with Porto and Atletico.

Forest have been one of the busier Premier League clubs this month with Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo both joining from Palmeiras. Meanwhile, Chris Wood has joined Steve Cooper’s squad after being allowed to leave Newcastle.
