Former Nottingham Forest favourite Chris Cohen has been relieved of his duties as a first-team coach at Premier League rivals Southampton after the sacking of Saints manager Nathan Jones on Sunday morning.
The 49-year-old lost seven of his eight Premier League matches in charge of the south-coast outfit, including a 1-0 defeat against Forest at St.Mary's in early January, ultimately costing the Welshman his job with Southampton bottom of the Premier League table.
Cohen, who made 303 appearances for Forest as a player between 2007 and 2018, had joined Jones' coaching staff at the Welshman's former club Luton Town before being brought to the Premier League club in November alongside Alan Sheehan when the Saints replaced former boss Ralph Hasenhuttl with last season's Championship manager of the year.

That means that once again, a relegation rival of the Reds will reappoint a manager with Everton and Leeds both sacking their respective managers recently whilst Wolves decision to replace Bruno Lage with Julien Lopetegui earlier in the campaign is looking to prove beneficial.
Despite being bottom of the top flight, the Saints are only four points from safety with 16 matches still to be played and sit nine points behind Forest after Saturday's defeats to Wolves and Fulham respecitvely. The two sides set to meet at the City Ground in the league on May 6th, a game which could prove to be crucial in the relegation battle.
