Nottingham Forest supporters are still split on how Joao Carvalho's time at the City Ground should be remembered after a permanent move to Olympiacos was confirmed on Saturday morning.
Carvalho spent three-and-a-half years at Forest after signing from Benfica for a club-record £13 million fee in June 2018, making 75 appearances across all competitions in that time. The free being paid by the Greek side is reported as "undisclosed".
The 24-year-old has been a polarizing figure in the East Midlands and that remains the case in the immediate aftermath of this permanent departure to the fellow Evangelos Marinakis -owned club in Piraeus.
Here is a selection of the social media reaction to Carvalho's January exit.
Steve 'Woody' Allen: The enigma has gone.
The Badger : He had one good game.
Jordan Harland: So much potential, bet he goes and rips up Greek league.
Dan Murr: Goodbye King.
Jay Storer: So long sweet prince.
Andrew Chard: All the best Joao, it didn't work how we all wanted it to. But this brings an end to the debate.
Bradley: Good luck lad, hope you do well.
Scott Lee Helmkay: Knew it was coming but I wasn’t fully prepared.
Matt Sheppard: Miss you Joao, technically superb.
Forest are magic : It’s sad to see Joao go and he did have some good moments at the club. But what a waste of 13 million. Nowhere near worth that!!
Holly Victoria: Goodbye my sweet Portuguese Prince. I'll miss you.
Peter Blackburn: All the best to Joao. The good times were relatively fleeting for a whole host of reasons but when it was good it was very fun indeed. Hope a fresh start helps him to make the most of his talent.
Tuppa: The Joao money officially replaces the Gunter money. Let's get it spent.
George: So long prince.
JeThRo: Was treated like he was on a life sentence. And for those who couldn’t see (or wouldn’t accept) just how good he was/is I have nothing to say other than you’re completely deluded.
The only positive from this is that now I won’t have to hear about how he’s tOo LiGhTwEiGht.
David Gratton: So Forest have offloaded Jenkinson and Carvalho permanently, Taylor on loan and now potentially Figs & Arter on loan too.
Hats off to Dane Murphy - if he can get rid of Bong and get another couple of forwards in that will be an unbelievable transfer window.
