Nottingham Forest fans have given their reaction to the latest update over the future of Djed Spence.
The full-back spent last season on loan with Forest where he caught the eye with his performances. He was a key part of the team who got the Reds back to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years through the play-offs.
Forest were keen on making the loan move from Middlesbrough permanent this summer, but have faced competition from Premier League rivals for the player. It now seems that Steve Cooper’s men may have lost the race for the 21-year-old.

Sky Sports report that Tottenham Hotspur are in "advanced talks" with Middlesbrough over the player with an agreement ‘getting closer.’ It is said that the transfer will see Spurs pay a fee of around £15million plus add-ons.
Forest have already turned to other options, with the club reportedly seeing an opening bid for Liverpool full-back Neco Williams rejected. The Reds are also interested in a move for Man City man Issa Kabore.
Following the latest Spence update, Forest fans took to social media to give their thoughts. Here’s what just some had to say.
Paul Fairley : Gutted, but was inevitable once spurs showed interest, champions league, more wages and better facilities! NEXT MAN UP!
CB : Good luck, Djed - cheers for everything.
Owen Summers : Thanks for everything @DjedSpence, get @necowilliams01 done now lads @NFFC.
Bevan Boy : Neco Williams >> Djed Spence Get it done...#nffc
Mardy Mellennial87 : Hopefully he signs for Spurs and we can move on and get Williams. Wish Spence well but we resurrected his career and yet he’s shown no loyalty whatsoever and it rubs me up the wrong way tbh.
SouthWestRed : Forget about Spence now appreciate the season he had with us but again that was down to Cooper…personally prefer Neco Williams anyway from a defensive point of view if we can get that one completed…trust the process!
Red Dog Macca : Yep! Sometimes you just have to concede when you can’t compete for a player, 23 years in the wilderness has left #nffc light years behind clubs like Spurs atm.
R : Spurs in negotiations with Spence / Boro for £15m + add ons? Wish we’d have made a similar offer a few weeks back…
