There are still at least two games left this season for Nottingham Forest, but the club are already casting an eye on transfers for the next campaign, which is pleasing supporters.
One player that the Reds have been linked with is Joe Rothwell, whose contract at Blackburn Rovers expires this summer. The player confirmed last week that he will not be extending his current deal after the Lancashire outfit failed to reach the play-offs.
Forest are planning on making an offer for the 27-year-old midfielder, according to The Telegraph. That offer will be made regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship next term.

Fans have been reacting to the transfer rumour on social media, with many suggesting that Rothwell could replace James Garner in the squad. The Manchester United man will return to his parent club in the summer to decide the next step of his career after spending a season and a half on loan with Forest.
Here is what Forest fans have been saying on Twitter:
@champagneneuzi: Perfect Garner replacement
@JordanHooley3: Would be a good signing, especially if we can’t get garner back which would be very unlikely if we don’t go up #nffc
@Grantnffc1: Think this is smart. Will bring a lot of the same qualities Garner brings to our midfield. Decent free-kicks too. If promotion happens Rothwell deserves the opportunity & we only really going to know Garner's future late in the summer.
@mikecoop82: Garner replacement #nffc
@Jcov1998: Planning for life without Garner? Would be a great signing either way! The best ball carrying midfielder in the league #NFFC
@willh1985: Fantastic if we could get that deal done. Think he would complement [Ryan] Yates whatever division we find ourselves in.
@jtweets92: Ideal signing. Get [Jed] Wallace in as well.
@elliott4sho: Yes please we’ll take him. Really good player!
@originallasagne: This is why I'm not worried if we don't go up and the team is broken up. Recruitment is on point. #nffc
@tobytales: Tidy technical player and carries the ball well.
@RedDogCam: Yes please!
@forestlads: Class player
@garethjd: Would be a very smart move!
@KieranParker29_: Would be some signing that,watched him a few times this season very good player. Good with the ball at his feet quick, but reckon he will go to wba
@kaiNFFC: If he goes West Brom he’s an idiot
