A Nottingham Forest supporter has taken to social media in the build-up to this weekend's match to address the "tragedy-baiting" around matches involving Liverpool after the events of Sunday afternoon's visit of Manchester City to Anfield.
The hosts issued a statement after their 1-0 win over the back-to-back Premier League champions expressing their "deep disappointment" at hearing "vile chants relating to football stadium tragedies from the away section". "Graffiti of a similar nature" was also seen on the concourse in the away section.
Those tragedies that they allude to are the 1985 Heysel Stadium disaster ahead of the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus when 39 people died and 14 were subsequently convicted of manslaughter, and the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 97 people were unlawfully killed having attended the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Forest.

The 24-tweet-long Twitter thread from an account going by the display name Zigger Zagger condemns the "vile chanting" and states that there will be people at the City Ground on Saturday or watching on television "who lost loved ones".
The point is also made that "there are seriously damaged Forest fans out there" who were "witness to scenes no one should ever witness".
The account calls on fellow Forest supporters to "show some humanity" and asks that they "don’t taunt about a disaster". Adding that "tragedy baiting is the big one" and concluding the thread by saying: "Forest have built up a great reputation as passionate, almost old-school supporters in an increasingly bland football environment. Let’s not blow it."
