Nottingham Forest face a fierce transfer battle for highly-rated Norwich City defender Andrew Omobamidele, according to reports.
The Republic of Ireland international has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, despite the Canaries failing in their bid to achieve promotion at the first time of asking. Omobamidele has been a relative mainstay of Norwich’s backline, making 33 league appearances, including 26 starts.
The 20-year-old centre-back made his senior debut back in the 2020-21 season and featured five times in the Premier League last term. However, it has been Omobamidele’s performances in the Championship that have seemingly caught Forest’s attention, with Steve Cooper ’s side one of several clubs touted with an interest in the Norwich youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

A report from The Telegraph has claimed that the defender is valued at “around £20m” by Norwich, who may look to cash in on one of their prize assets to allow manager David Wagner to strengthen his squad. It is said that the East Anglian side “will consider selling” Omobamidele for the right price.
Earlier this year, it was suggested that Forest had been scouting the young centre-back , with the view to a move in the summer. However, it appears the Reds may face a battle for his signature. According to The Telegraph, the defender has also “attracted interest” from several European clubs, including Italian giants AC Milan and French side Nice.
Forest have had issues at centre-back throughout the season. Moussa Niakhate has recovered from a long-term injury to slot alongside Felipe and Joe Worrall but both Willy Boly and Scott McKenna remain sidelined. Steve Cook was removed from Forest’s Premier League squad to accommodate Felipe after the January window, while Loic Bade’s loan was cancelled after failing to make an appearance for the Reds, subsequently joining Sevilla.
