Full Southampton squad available to face Nottingham Forest as four ruled out
Southampton boss Ruben Selles will be without four players in his side's visit to Nottingham Forest on Monday (8pm).
It is a must-win game for both sides who are fighting to keep their Premier League status alive. Saints are currently bottom, winless in their last eight games and are six points behind Forest with four games to play.
Ahead of their trip to the City Ground, Selles will be without his defensive quartet - Mohammed Salisu (groin), Tino Livramento (knee), Juan Larios (thigh) and Romain Perraud (ankle). However, striker Paul Onuachu has returned to training this week after sustaining a knock that saw him miss the defeat against Newcastle.
Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook mocks Derby County after play-off heartbreak
Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has responded to Derby County's play-offs heartbreak after they were defeated 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday.
The result, which saw Rams captain Curtis Davies sent off, meant that they slipped into seventh place after Michael Smith converted from the spot. An equaliser would have been sufficient to keep Paul Warne's side in the top-six.
Forest's rivals won 21 of their games this season but ultimately, results went against them when they looked to cement a place in the play-offs. They will be competing in League One for a second successive year next season.
Former Rangers man 'could be snapped up' by Nottingham Forest
New Nottingham Forest chief football officer Ross Wilson is reportedly interested in 'snapping up' former Rangers colleague Craig Mulholland to oversee the club’s youth system.
Wilson, who joined the club from Scottish giants Rangers last month, replaced the sacked Filippo Giraldi who had left just a few days earlier. He spent three-and-a-half years at Rangers, where he worked alongside Mulholland.
Well-regarded current academy director Gary Brazil is out of contract with the club in the summer, with The Athletic claiming last month that he was yet to hear from the Reds over his future. Now, according to the Sun’s Alan Nixon , he is ‘set to leave his post’, with Forest eyeing Mulholland as a replacement.
Alan Shearer makes ‘huge’ Nottingham Forest comment as ‘tough’ Leeds claim made
Former Premier League striker turned pundit Alan Shearer believes that Nottingham Forest’s clash against Southampton could be ‘huge’ in the fight to stay in the league at the end of the season, despite believing that Forest’s opponents are ‘already gone’.
The Reds go into the game at the City Ground in the relegation zone just on goal difference. They are on the same points as Leeds United and Leicester City, but now have a game in hand over the former after they fell to defeat against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
First half goals from Ilkay Gundogan gave City a 2-1 win over Leeds at the Etihad Stadium, much to the delight of Forest fans. That result means that any points against Southampton would see the Reds climb above Leeds.
